Olea europea either the Olive tree is native to the areas around the Mediterranean and is one of the oldest cultivated plants in Europe.
Olive Olive produces fruits that lend themselves very well for the production of oils and foods.
Mature olive trees get a gnarled, deeply grooved trunk and lush, silvery crown. In young olive trees, the trunk is smooth and gray but every year it becomes darker, knoestiger and crooked. The leaves are evergreen and are renewed every three years.
The olive is hardy and there are even instances of over 2000 years old.
From April to June hang small white blossoms in clusters on the branches of the olive tree. These blossoms give off a sweet and pleasant fragrance.
The Olive Tree is often given as a gift on special occasions such as marriage, birth, etc.
The Dutch climate is suitable for olive and hot summers, the plant can even produce fruit.
