The Cissus is originally from East Africa. Cissus discolor comes from a genus of about 350 species of cissus, which fall under the vine plants. Cissus comes from the Greek word Kissos, which means ivy. It is therefore a climbing plant, related to the well-known grape. Do not expect any grapes from your Cissus! The plant is also sometimes called 'chamberwing', but this is not a unique name: there are several plants that are so named. Because it is a climbing plant, this Cissus needs some grip. The pot contains a pyramid of bamboo sticks, along which the plant climbs upwards. The nice thing about the discolor is that the top and bottom of the blade have a different color.
