Dahlia is a Greek girl name. It means 'flower'. Dahlias are native to Mexico. From 1810, cultivation began to develop in the Netherlands. Dahlias are very versatile ornamental flowers. In addition to the different growth methods, there is also an extensive variety of flower shapes and colours. It is estimated that there are as many as 15,000 Dahlia species worldwide. Because of these varieties, there are many uses for dahlias. Dahlias are rewarding plants. The first dahlias can bloom from mid-June. With proper care, flowering will continue until the first frost. If you regularly remove the faded flowers, you will be rewarded with an abundance of flowers in the most beautiful colors and shapes.

Dahlia tubers can be planted in the spring, but be careful with late night frosts. The plants are sensitive to frost. Dig a spacious planting hole, loosen the soil and fill the planting hole with good potting soil. Carefully place the tubers in the planting hole and cover with 3-5 cm. soil.
