De Brassia is an evergreen epiphyte and is found in Central and South America. This beautiful orchid is related to the Oncidium, but does not have such a high light requirement as most Oncidiums.
Place Orchids in a light spot at room temperatures of 18 to 20C and give them a special, liquid orchid fertilizer once a month. (available from us)
Pot orchids do not like wet feet. Immerse the plant once a week for 5 to 10 minutes in water at room temperature and let the Brassia drain well.
De Brassia also does not like draft and direct sunlight. In addition, they do not like a heater or central heating in the neighborhood.
Also a fruit bowl in the neighborhood is not a good option. Fruit produces gases that make flowers age quickly.
Use "if possible" rainwater!
Do not pour the water on the plant, but on the earth.
Give the plant water preferably in the morning so that the moisture has time to dry.
Keep orchids drier in the winter than in summer. They are then at rest. Give a little water now and then.
Give the orchid more water again in the spring, with occasional special manure.
Because most modern houses nowadays have a dry atmosphere and the orchid likes to keep the air moist, the orchid Brassia likes it when you spray the leaves of the orchid regularly.
De Brassia is "like most orchids a grateful plant." With good care he can start flowering again.
The flowering time of the orchid Brassia is 6 to 6 weeks.
